Once you’ve really enjoyed celebrating your engagement, it’s time to get down to business and start the search for “the dress”. A year before your wedding date is a great time to start looking, this gives you plenty of time to try a good selection of styles without any stress. We recommend starting your search after you have found your venue as you can picture walking down the aisle in “the one” and the date can be crucial as well, as you might choose a different style in spring then you would in autumn.

Although it might be tempting at first to bring the entire bridal party on your first bridal appointment, most brides find too many opinions can become confusing and make the process much more overwhelming than it needs to be. At Izzi Stockton Bridal, we want to keep the focus on you and only you. So, we’d advise bringing up to three of your closest friends or family and leave the rest of the bridal party and guests to be surprised on your big day!

We believe that every Bride should have the same experience of wedding dress shopping and the same amount of choice no matter what size you are. Our collection of dresses start from size 8 and go up to size 30. We have a selection of different shape and style plus size bridal dresses to flatter the fuller figure, as well as jackets and straps to compliment the gowns. However, having been in the bridal business for a long time, we have several super-clever ways to show the true fit of each dress even if it doesn’t quite fit.

We recommend starting alterations approximately 6-8 weeks before your wedding depending on your circumstances. We have a list of dressmakers who are local to us and been recommended to us.
